Juventus star midfielder Paul Pogba is said to be set for a Monday meeting with his agent Mino Raiola to discuss a move to Manchester United.
The 23-year-old France international left United to join the Serie A club for free a few years ago, but the Old Trafford side, now led by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, want the player back and are willing to pay anything to get him.
Mourinho has made Pogba his chief summer target, claiming that he wanted to sign four players whilst speaking in his very first press conference as United boss.
So far, he has signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, leaving the Frenchman the missing piece.
Since leaving Old Trafford for Turin, Pogba has developed into one of the best players in his position, and has seen much success, having won four straight Serie A titles with Juventus.
He has long been tipped for a return to United, but is said to prefer joining up with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid. Zidane wants Pogba at Madrid as well, but has little say over who comes and goes, with club president Florentino Perez in charge of transfer dealings.
Perez isn’t very fond of the France midfielder and has reportedly cooled the club’s pursuit of the player. So the only thing left standing in United’s way is Juventus and Pogba himself.
If this meeting really is happening, though, we could soon see an end to this long-drawn transfer saga.
