Lazio sell just 11 season tickets on first day of sale ahead of Serie A campaign

Lazio faced Atalanta in front of a near-empty stadium. Lazio have had a tough start to 2016-17.

Lazio fans don’t seem very excited for the 2016-17 season and their enthusiasm reached a new low with only a handful of season tickets sold on the opening day of sale — according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Serie A club started selling season tickets on Monday, but the lines remained dead as they registered only 11 completed applications by the end of the day.

Last year, a club record low of 12,800 season tickets were sold for Lazio’s league fixtures at the 72,698 capacity Stadio Olimpico and, on the evidence of Monday, a new record is likely to be set this season.

Several thousand Lazio fans took to the streets last week to protest against club president Claudio Lotito, after the bungled appointment of Marcelo Bielsa and things don’t look like improving any time soon.
