Barcelona and Juventus target Gabriel Barbosa, the Brazilian talent known simply as ‘Gabigol’, has hinted that a move is in the pipelines after suggesting he could have now played his last game for Santos.
“I played as if it was my last game here. Soon you will know something,” the 19-year-old is quoted as saying by Marca after he scored at the weekend.
The Spanish sports newspaper notes that Barcelona officials were in attendance on Saturday, while it has been heavily rumoured that Juve have already agreed a deal with the player and were only left needing to negotiate a fee with Santos.
Having hinted to the media, Gabigol later uploaded a picture to Instagram that appeared to be further emotional indication that he could soon be bidding farewell to Santos.
The image showed the player kissing a large club badge on the pitch, accompanied by the message, “My heart is Alvinegro (White and Black), and it beats strong for you. Santos you are my life, I love you to death.”
Gabigol has found himself in the headlines just as much as fellow teenage sensation Gabriel Jesus of Palmeiras in recent weeks.
The versatile young forward, who operates mostly from an attacking position on the right, has already scored five times in 10 Brasileirao appearances in the 2016 season.
Following in the footsteps of Neymar, he made his Santos debut in 2013 and has been playing regularly since 2014.
Earlier this year, Gabigol was also handed a senior debut with Brazil. He was then named in the Copa America squad and will be part of the side that contest the Olympics games in August.
