Mauro Icardi could leave Inter Milan without salary increase – agent
New Inter Milan owners said at a press conference that Serie A should act globally, similarly to the Premier League.
The agent and wife of Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi says he is considering leaving the Nerazzurri this summer since he does not feel valued.
Wanda Nara fuelled speculation that the Inter captain may be on his way out of the Serie A club by saying at the weekend that “the financial situation at the club means they evidently can’t keep hold of Icardi.”
Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio laughed off Nara’s remarks at a news conference on Monday, where he said: “It made me smile to be honest, but I do think it was the wrong time and the wrong place.”
He added: “In any case, one day of headlines is enough; let’s talk about things that matter. Icardi signed a new contract a year ago, we’ve made him our captain and he’s not for sale. Anything else is just talk.”
Though Nara now looks to be pushing for an improved deal for her husband.
“If a club were to offer €50 million — and there are some around — with a suitable offer for Icardi, Mauro would consider leaving,” Nara told calciomercato.com.
“He doesn’t feel valued. Inter cannot ask for twice as much for him without increasing his wages accordingly. This is why he could leave.
“I don’t like it because they are not giving a fair value to a player like Icardi. To stay at Inter, we’ve turned down several offers with much higher wages to what he is currently on. But if from one year to the next, Inter believe Mauro’s value has grown three times then it’s only right this gets reflected with the increase in wages that they promised.
“It was guaranteed to him and we never had any problems waiting.”
Mauro Icardi’s wife says he does not feel valued at Inter Milan.
During that wait, Icardi has shown a commitment to the Nerazzurri which Nara believes not many would have shown.
“Many clubs have inquired about Icardi and they have been ready to offer him big wages,” she said. “He could have been earning much more for the past two years, and playing in the Champions League.
“Now if a club were to come in with the right offer, Mauro would consider the idea of leaving Inter, while wishing them all the best for the future. Today, he just doesn’t feel they value him.
“If it were purely about money, we would have accepted the €25 million a year offered to us by a Chinese club two weeks ago,” she added.
“It’s just that Icardi wants to feel valued by Inter because there are funds for new signings, but no funds for his wages. This is not on. This is why there is the possibility that Icardi might leave Inter.”
