Roma's Adem Ljajic 'very close' to signing with Celta Vigo – Minambres
Celta Vigo are “very close” to signing Roma midfielder Adem Ljajic, sporting director Felipe Minambres has confirmed.
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, scoring three goals in 26 Serie A appearances, but isn’t in the Nerazzurri‘s plans for next season.
The La Liga side are in search of offensive options after losing star forward Nolito to Manchester City last week, and Ljajic is seen as an attractive option for Minambres’ men.
“Ljajic is a player who interests us,” Minambres said at a news conference on Thursday.
Nolito has joined Manchester City from Celta Vigo with the Spain international signing a four year deal.
“We’re very close, but at the moment it’s not done. The window is open, we’re looking for a goalkeeper, a central defender and an attacking wild card like Ljajic.
“If we can’t get him, we’ll move on to other options. There are many players around who can adapt smoothly to Celta Vigo’s project.
“Ljajic would always be our first choice though, and we hope to announce his signing within the next week.”
