The race for Poland international Piotr Zielinski seems to have taken yet another twist, with reports coming out of Italy claiming that Serie A side Napoli are now in the driver’s seat.
The Liverpool Echo (h/t Italian publication La Republicca) reports that the Liverpool target could sign for the Naples club soon, as the club has offered him very favourable wages.
Zielinski though, has made it clear that he does not want to join Napoli. He has his heart set on a move to Liverpool. #lfc (Dominic King)

Liverpool have had a bid of £11.75m for the player knocked back, despite a similar offer being accepted from Napoli, who also threw a player – Juan Camilo Zuniga – into the deal to sweeten the pot.
Zielinski has made no secret of his intention to join Liverpool, but it is understood that this latest offer has made him more receptive to joining Napoli ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
The 22-year-old Udinese man spent the last two seasons on loan at Empoli, attracting attention all around with his superb performances on the pitch.
Further reports have linked AC Milan with the player as well. Udinese sporting director director Nereo Bonato has confirmed that there is interest from the Rossoneri, but insists that no offers have been laid out as yet.
“Milan are interested in Zielinski. Yet aside from making enquiries in informal talks, they have not made any concrete offers,” he said.
“We have a formal agreement with Napoli but this deal can not be completed because the player has not yet agreed personal terms with the club.”
For now, it appears that the Reds will be losing out on yet another target, but they have plenty of time to seek alternatives, with the new season over a month away.
