Simone Padoin leaves Juventus to sign with Cagliari

Simone Padoin has moved to Cagliari in search of first-team football.

Simone Padoin has signed for Cagliari after more than four years of playing a supporting role for Juventus.

The 32-year-old midfielder was a part of five Serie A winning squads during his time in Turin, which began in January 2012 when he left Atalanta, but he made only 84 league appearances for Juve.

Top-flight newcomers Cagliari have now given him an opportunity to play more regular football by handing him a three-year contract at the Stadio Sant’Elia.

The teams agreed a transfer fee of €600,000.

A statement published on Cagliari’s official website read: “His versatility makes him valuable to any coach — he can play on the right, on the left, in the middle, dropping deep or raiding forward.

“His real strength is his personality. He is as modest and bashful as he is determined.”
