6 of the Biggest Names Represented by Super Agent Jorge Mendes
After Jose Mourinho get the job at Manchester United that he had always craved, here is a look at six players that are also represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes – a man whose client list is so vast that he is considered one of the most powerful men in football.
1. David de Gea – Manchester United
The Spanish goalkeeper looked set to join Real Madrid last summer until a last minute fax machine fault meant that he stayed at United and signed a new long-term contract.
He has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital again this summer, but either way Jorge Mendes has made big money for him and his client.
2. William Carvalho – Sporting Lisbon
The Portuguese midfielder has been linked with many of Europe’s elite clubs for numerous years now, so perhaps this summer is the one when Carvalho finally leaves Sporting Lisbon.
His agent will not be short of suitors if the 24-year-old does decide to move on, with both Arsenal and champions Leicester City reported to be interested.
3. Radamel Falcao – AS Monaco
One of Mendes’ most profitable clients, Falcao has had successful spells at Porto, Atletico Madrid and Monaco.
More recently the Colombian has had poor stints at both Manchester United and Chelsea – after being hampered by serious injuries – however the loan arrangements were still lucrative.
4. Angel Di Maria – PSG
The Argentinian winger has had a new lease of life in the French capital after a poor season at Manchester United.
Mendes has been involved in a number of moves for Di Maria, including to Real Madrid from Benfica – the Portuguese league is one of the biggest markets for the agent as it is his home country.
5. Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid
By far the most marketable of Mendes’ players is Cristiano Ronaldo. His form in recent seasons has seen him become one of the best paid players in the world.
This summer he has been linked with one big, final move away from Real Madrid, with PSG touted as a possible location.
6. James Rodriquez – Real Madrid
After his stunning performances at the 2014 World Cup, Rodriquez got a move from Monaco to Real Madrid for €80m.
His form has suffered since Carlo Ancelotti left the club, and his lack of game time may mean that Mendes is busy representing the Colombian once more this summer.
